Featuring a judging panel of art historians and scientists from
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tate London, The Getty Conservation Institute, The Courtauld Institute of Art — and an FBI cryptanalyst.

We’re inviting all 11 to 16-year-old students from around the world to take part in a groundbreaking new competition.

Classrooms will venture through competition challenges to solve a remarkable real-life mystery — involving the most famous artist in history.

For three weeks, challenge-specific lesson plans empower teachers to unravel our virtual puzzles with their classes.

This interdisciplinary approach unites art history, science and mathematics to captivate students with a diverse range of interests.

Best of all, each team stands a chance to win incredible science bundles for their school — packed to the brim.

Our prizes are generously sponsored by our competition partners, Ward’s Science, who have been the leading suppliers of science education equipment for 150 years.

“Science applied to the fine arts offers us a rare opportunity to uncover some of the secrets of the past, but not only that, to increase our appreciation of the beauty of works of art as well as the awe-inspiring talent of artists.”

Dr Bronwyn Ormsby, Principal Conservation Scientist at Tate, London
